Today’s beauty trends are ALL ABOUT THE BROWS! And when the brows are beautifully shaped, this creates a frame, drawing focus to your eyes. And when your brows have been shaped to balance and harmonise your unique features, well, this is a game changer! It can transform your look, giving the illusion of a fresher more youthful YOU. But we aren’t all blessed with perfect eyebrows. If you are genetically predisposed to thin brows, have over-plucked them in years past, have alopecia or a medical condition that causes hair loss, or simply don’t like the shape, you might be considering a more permanent solution for your “Brow Blues”. Permanent makeup is fast becoming the ‘go to’ solution for women everywhere and is now more accessible than ever. MICROBLADING Microblading hit the scene quite a number of years ago, and fast became a growing trend worldwide. The use of a hand tool and blade to cut and slice the skin to implant pigment in a hairstroke like design. Recently the hype around this treatment is slowly staring to die down as the disastrous results are surfacing, and it only comes as a relief to all of the skin professionals out there! Cutting the skin is never a good idea. It leaves you susceptible to infection and the formation of scar tissue. And while microblading never lasts more than a few months, you need more and more treatments to keep the results. And as you can imagine, every subsequent treatment is more cuts, more slicing, and results in more scars. Your skin is left permanently damaged, including irreparable damage to the hair follicles. Microblading is a manual technique, so you are at the mercy of your technician. There is no depth control, or any fail safes of any kind with this treatment. If you are unlucky enough to choose an inexperienced technician, the results can be disastrous. Google search bad microblading, and you’ll see what we’re talking about! But not all technicians will leave you disfigured. There are some highly skilled Microbladers out there that are super creative, but simply put, the nature of this treatment is to mutilate the skin, so scarring is inevitable. I once was chatting to a body tattooist about the similarities and differences of our industries; and he told me that he too uses a blade to create designs in peoples skin…. And it’s called “scarification”. > insert grimace face here < So what’s the alternative you ask? COSMETIC TATTOO Cosmetic Tattooing uses a machine and needle to deposit pigment into skin. The needle penetrates and exits the skin creating micro-perforations, strategically placing little dots or pixels of pigment at the correct depth (because these devices have depth control) where the pigment is more stable and long lasting for more desirable results. There are also speed settings on these devices, so the amount of pigment being placed in the skin is controlled. All of these safety measures, along with the skill of your technician, will result in natural looking, balanced eyebrows. Featherstroke, Feather Touch, Hairstroke designs can be achieved with this method, with the use of nano needle technology. No cutting, slicing or tearing of the skin is required to create a beautiful and intricate Featherstroke design. In the hands of an experienced technician, the risks of infection and scarring is minimal, and the results can last 12x longer! The pigment will slowly soften and fade over time, requiring maintenance visits every12-24 months to keep them looking beautiful and fresh. Cosmetic Tattooing can be used to apply permanent makeup on the eyebrows, eyeliner and lips. If you want to have beautiful, healthy and natural looking eyebrows like beauty professionals and celebrities, say no to the invasive, risky, disfiguring microblading technique, in favour of the safer and more advanced treatment of cosmetic tattooing with a machine; which will give you results that you are comfortable with, and proud of; permanent makeup you want to wear every day.
